Korea Arts & Culture Education Service to Host 'Dream Ensemble' Joint Festival in Pyeongchang

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on July 28 that, together with the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, it will host the '2025 Dream Ensemble Joint Camp - Dream Festival' from August 6 to 8 in the Pyeongchang area of Gangwon Province.

'Dream Ensemble' is the Ministry's flagship arts and culture education brand, which has been supported for the past 15 years. Starting with the Dream Orchestra in 2010, the Dream Dance Company was established in 2022, the Dream Theater Company in 2024, and the Dream Studio in 2025. Since last year, the 'Dream Festival' has been introduced as a joint performance-based arts and culture education model that brings together members from across the country.

This year's Dream Festival will feature members of the Dream Orchestra, Dance Company, and Theater Company, as well as youth choirs from three countries: Malaysia, Japan, and Thailand. In total, about 1,000 members will participate under the theme of "First Breath," which captures the awakening of the senses, through a preliminary workshop in July and a joint camp (joint performance) in August.

At the preliminary workshop on July 12, members of the Dream Dance Company gathered at the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service to learn key choreography for the joint performance with Art Project Bora. On July 25, members of the Dream Orchestra took part in an art talk with Artistic Director Yang Sungwon at the '2025 Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival' and attended the open rehearsal of 'Pyeongchang Festival Strings - Ancient Hymns, Modern Rhythms.' Members of the newly launched 'Dream Studio' also held a drawing workshop under the theme 'First Breath.'

The August joint camp will include: ▲ Four Dream Orchestra locations (Guri, Daegu, Muju, Cheongsong) ▲ Twelve Dream Dance Company locations (Gangneung, Gongju, Guri, Gimhae, Songpa, Yeonsu, Osan, Ulju, Incheon Jung-gu, Jeonju, Cheonan, Chilgok) ▲ The 2024 Dream Theater Company ambassador 'Theater Traveler' and child members, who will interact and present a joint performance. Drawings inspired by the theme 'First Breath' by Dream Studio members will also be displayed throughout the venue.

This festival will be led by composer Choi Woojung, professor at Seoul National University College of Music, as general director. Vocalist Samuel Youn, also a professor at Seoul National University College of Music, and choreographer Kim Bora (Art Project Bora) will serve as co-directors, guiding the members to deepen their artistic engagement and creative abilities.

On August 7, during the joint camp, the highly anticipated joint performance prepared by all members will take place. At this event, the festival theme song for 2025, "My Tomorrow," composed by General Director Choi Woojung for the Dream Ensemble, will premiere. The theme song will be released in July and made available on various music streaming platforms. In addition, the official Dream Ensemble social media channels will host a "Dream Festival Theme Song Performance and Choreography Challenge" until August 7.

Additionally, throughout August, the '2025 Dream Orchestra Self-Reliance Base Joint Camp' will be held nationwide. Eleven Dream Orchestra self-reliance bases will conduct orchestra education programs, capacity-building workshops for staff, and exchange performances in a total of five regions.

A representative from the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service stated, "Now in its second year, the Dream Festival is a valuable opportunity for members from across the country and international youth to come together through the arts and envision tomorrow. We hope you will look forward to this journey of dreams, where everyone becomes one on stage, transcending genres and nationalities."
