Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation Recruiting Operators for Shared Childcare Center Support Project

Support for the Creation and Operation of 'Shinhan Kkumdodamteo' Shared Childcare Spaces

Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation announced on July 28 that it will be accepting applications for the second half of the year for the 'Shinhan Kkumdodamteo' project, which supports the creation and operation of shared childcare spaces, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the ChildFund Korea. Applications will be accepted until August 14.

'Shinhan Kkumdodamteo' is a social contribution initiative by Shinhan Financial Group and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. The project aims to support after-school care activities for children from dual-income families, in order to reduce the childcare burden on parents and prevent career interruptions for women. This is part of a nationwide effort to address the low birth rate. Since 2018, Shinhan Financial Group has invested a total of 22 billion KRW to establish 213 'Shinhan Kkumdodamteo' centers across the country. In the first half of this year, 10 new centers, including those in Wonju, Gangwon and Jecheon, Chungbuk, were selected through an open call.

In the second half of the year, Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation plans to select support recipients in two categories: newly created Kkumdodamteo spaces using unused local government facilities, and remodeling of existing shared childcare centers due to disaster or aging.

Selected organizations will receive support for space interior design and equipment tailored to the age of users, as well as the operation of various specialized programs such as creative art education, career experience education, sensory play, and financial education.

Approximately 10 locations nationwide will be selected as support recipients for the second half of the year, and multiple applications from a single city, county, or district are allowed. The final selection will be made through document review, on-site evaluation, and a final assessment, with results to be communicated via the respective local governments.

A representative from Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation stated, "Following the selection of 10 'Shinhan Kkumdodamteo' centers in the first half of the year, Shinhan Financial Group is taking the lead in creating a care-friendly environment centered on local communities through this second-half recruitment. We will continue to carry out various social contribution projects to reduce the childcare burden on parents and address the low birth rate issue."
