Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) announced on July 28 that it recently received a donation of ceiling materials and ceiling structures worth approximately 100 million KRW from Hee-Kyung Han, CEO of JNT Co., Ltd., a company specializing in ceiling structure systems.

This donation was made by CEO Han, an alumnus of the 8th graduating class of the GIST Technology Management Academy (GTMBA), who wished to contribute to the creation of a more comfortable and safer environment for education and research, motivated by pride and affection for her alma mater.

The donated ceiling materials and structures will be used for remodeling and facility improvements of major buildings within GIST, and are expected to significantly enhance both the safety and functionality of these spaces.

JNT Co., Ltd., located in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, operates under the corporate philosophy of "technology that values people," and is a growing company recognized for its differentiated technological capabilities and quality.

In particular, the company develops high-performance ceiling systems equipped with advanced safety technologies, including fire safety through the use of non-combustible materials, prevention of bacterial proliferation through antibacterial materials, and seismic and wind resistance capable of withstanding seismic loads equivalent to magnitude 10 earthquakes and wind pressures of up to 50 m/s. These systems contribute to building safe environments in public institutions, hospitals, and research institutes.

GIST President Ki-Chul Lim stated, "I am deeply grateful for your support in improving the environment of our research-oriented university with the technological expertise accumulated in the industrial field," and added, "We will make sure that this donation is cherished and remembered as an exemplary case of industry-academia collaboration and alumni giving culture."

CEO Hee-Kyung Han said, "The learning and experiences I gained at GIST have been central to my management philosophy and have become the driving force behind my pursuit of change and innovation," adding, "This donation is not simply about giving back, but is a sincere expression of my hope that GIST will design an even greater future in an even better space."
