"Just Add Water and Boil"… Daesang Cheongjeongwon HOME:INGS Launches 'Super Simple Soup Dishes'

Individually Packaged Single Servings with Sauce and Ingredients
Ready in 180 Seconds After Boiling, No Thawing Required

Daesang announced on the 28th that its convenient meal brand HOME:INGS has launched "Super Simple Soup Dishes," a product that can be cooked by simply adding water without thawing.

"Super Simple Soup Dishes" is a product that recreates traditional Korean soups such as Doenjang-guk and Kimchi-jjigae in a convenient meal format. Conventional block-type ambient meals often lacked sufficient ingredients, resulting in lower completeness and satisfaction. Frozen products, on the other hand, required thawing before cooking and, since the soup was frozen whole, were bulky and inconvenient to store. By introducing a new manufacturing method and product composition that address these shortcomings, Daesang has released a differentiated line of convenient soup meals.

The new product is inspired by the meal prep method, featuring a combination of prepped meat, vegetables, seafood, and a concentrated soup sauce. Its compact size, about the size of an adult's palm, makes it easy to store in the freezer, and each serving is individually packaged, making it suitable for single meals. Meal prep is a compound word of "meal" and "preparation," referring to a cooking method where ingredients are prepped and packaged in advance to reduce meal preparation time.

In particular, Daesang applied its customized pre-processing technology to create a rich variety of ingredients and authentic textures, as if the soup were carefully cooked at home. Additionally, the cooking process has been standardized so that, regardless of the ingredients or composition, every menu item can be perfectly cooked in 180 seconds after the water boils. The soup sauce incorporates Daesang's concentrated seasoning technology, resulting in a deep and rich flavor comparable to that of specialty restaurants.

This new product line consists of eight types of soups and stews. "Ugeoji Doenjang-guk" features tender domestic ugeoji (outer cabbage leaves), savory dried shrimp, and Cheongjeongwon Sunchang soybean paste. "Beef Seaweed Soup" is made with aromatic perilla oil, shredded brisket, and seaweed from the southern coast of Korea. "Beef Radish Soup" is flavored with beef, domestic radish, and green onion. Other varieties include "Dried Pollack Bean Sprout Soup," "Aged Kimchi Stew," and "Gochujang Jjageuli," among others.

The cooking process is simple. Without any thawing, place the specified amount of water and the product in a pot, heat it up, and after the water boils, cook for an additional three minutes to complete the dish.

The eight varieties of HOME:INGS "Super Simple Soup Dishes" will be pre-released through Kurly starting on the 29th, and will subsequently be available on major online channels such as the Cheongjeongwon Naver Brand Store and Coupang, as well as at large supermarkets nationwide.

Yoon Jungwon, head of the Daesang Meal Solution Team, stated, "HOME:INGS Super Simple Soup Dishes is a new type of convenient soup meal that incorporates Daesang's technology and expertise, allowing anyone to complete a delicious soup in just three minutes after boiling, with no thawing required. We will continue to lead the convenient meal market by introducing differentiated HOME:INGS products that reflect rapidly changing consumer dining trends."

Meanwhile, as dining-out prices rise, more people are opting for home-cooked meals, leading to a steady increase in demand for frozen convenient meals that offer high quality and taste at reasonable prices. Since its launch in 2021, HOME:INGS frozen soup dishes have surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 6.2 million units.
