Dongshin University announced on the 27th that the Department of K-Namdo Culture at the Future Life College has been finally selected as this year's 'Jeonnam Province Culture and Tourism Interpreter Training Institution'.

Culture and tourism interpreters are professionals who play a crucial role in enhancing understanding of the region by providing tourists with expert knowledge about local history, culture, arts, nature, and various tourism resources.

This project will be operated until December, focusing on systematically training professional interpreters in line with Jeonnam Province's core vision for culture and tourism. The program aims to strengthen interpreters' expertise and explanatory capabilities by providing specialized knowledge that reflects regional characteristics, so they can deepen their understanding of the area and adapt to the evolving tourism environment.

In addition, the program will focus on flexibly responding to the demand for new tourist destinations, developing interpretation content suitable for the era of smart tourism and AI, and enhancing the ability to utilize technology.

The training program is divided into courses for new interpreters and refresher training for existing interpreters. Tailored programs will be offered for each region?eastern, central, and western parts of Jeonnam Province?taking into account local characteristics and interpretation needs.

Through these efforts, it is expected that field-ready professional interpreters will be trained to effectively convey the unique culture and characteristics of the region and communicate smoothly with tourists.

Heo Yongmu, professor at the Department of K-Namdo Culture at Dongshin University, stated, "Through this project, we aim to present a new model for community-based interpreter training and contribute to elevating the quality of Jeonnam's culture and tourism industry," adding, "We will continue to actively support Jeonnam's culture and tourism interpreters so they can acquire more professional and modern capabilities."
