This summer, water playgrounds have been set up at Mapo-gu Citizens' Square in front of Mapo-gu Office, Red Road Power Plant, Mapo Saebit Culture Forest, Yanghwa Children's Park, Tojeong Park, and Gyeongui Line Forest Park.
Each location is equipped with various play facilities such as air swimming pools and water slides, as well as basic amenities including shade canopies and changing rooms to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors.
The opening ceremony featured a variety of events such as beach ball tossing, water gun performances, and facility tours with children, which were met with an enthusiastic response.
The water playgrounds will operate until August 17, with opening hours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, operations will be temporarily suspended for facility inspections from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day.
On the same day, the '5th Sangam-dong Tongtongtong Mul-tongtong Village Festival' was also held at Guryong Neighborhood Park in Sangam-dong, adding to the summer festivities. The festival, which ran from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., attracted more than 2,000 visitors.
Park Kangsoo, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, "As the heat this summer is more intense than usual, I hope that children and parents can visit the water playgrounds to cool off and take a break," adding, "We will continue to do our best to make Mapo-gu an oasis-like haven for residents through various seasonal programs."
