Sunmoon University Cultivates Future Semiconductor Talent with High School Students Nationwide

Sunmoon University held the "2025 Mobility Semiconductor Design Competition" at the Engineering Building on the Asan Campus from July 21 to July 25, 2025.

This competition was organized by the Sunmoon University Future Automotive Specialization Project Group, led by Choi Changha, and sponsored by Chungcheongnam-do Province, the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education, Cheonan City, Asan City, as well as semiconductor design tool companies Cadence and 9Plus.

Thirty-five high school students selected from across the country participated in the event, completing a five-day intensive program focused on career exploration in semiconductor design, expert lectures, and hands-on training.

The training was led by professors from the Sunmoon University Department of Mobility Semiconductor Engineering (Oh Inyeol, Yeo Honggu, and Joo Yonghan), with special lectures given by Professor Lee Youngjoo (KAIST), Professor Choi Kichang (Seoul National University), Director Lee Seunghwan (Korea Automotive Technology Institute), and Dr. Yoo Jongbeom (National Nano Fab Center).

On the final day of the competition, students submitted their designs based on core circuits. The submissions were evaluated for error rate, area, performance, and efficiency, resulting in six students being recognized as outstanding designers.
