'Pre-Sale Record' Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 Officially Launched in Korea Today

Samsung Electronics announced on July 25 that it has officially launched its new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, as well as the Galaxy Watch8 series of smartwatches.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 set a new record for the highest number of pre-orders ever for Galaxy foldables, selling 1.04 million units during the domestic pre-sale period that ended on July 21. Previously, the record was held by the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 series, which sold 1.02 million units during their pre-sale.

Another notable point is that the Fold lineup accounted for a higher proportion of pre-orders than the Flip lineup. In this pre-order period, the Galaxy Z Fold7 accounted for 60% of pre-orders, while the Galaxy Z Flip7 accounted for 40%. Last year, the Fold model's share was 40%, but this year it increased to 60%.

The foldable series is especially popular among younger customers. On Samsung's own online store, Samsung.com, more than half of Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 buyers were in their 10s, 20s, or 30s.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 features the thinnest and lightest design ever in the Galaxy Z Fold lineup. When folded, it is 8.9mm thick; when unfolded, it is 4.2mm thick; and it weighs 215g. The main display measures 8 inches, while the cover display is 6.5 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The change in the cover display's aspect ratio allows for usability similar to that of a bar-type smartphone.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's "Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy" chipset as its application processor (AP). It runs on One UI 8, enabling users to access Galaxy AI features even on a foldable smartphone.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 features a 4.1-inch cover display with a slim 1.25mm bezel, enhancing both portability and usability. In Flex Mode, users can take high-resolution selfies with the 50-megapixel camera and activate Google's AI service "Gemini" via voice command. The battery capacity has also increased to 4,300mAh. The device is powered by Samsung's self-designed and manufactured "Exynos 2500" chipset.

Samsung Electronics is offering several benefits to customers who purchase and activate a device in August, including: a 10% additional discount coupon for the "Galaxy Watch8 series" usable in the Samsung.com app; five 30% discount coupons for cases and accessories; six months of free subscription to "Google AI Pro"; three months of free subscription to "Willa"; and one free application of genuine protective film.

The Galaxy Watch8 series also features the slimmest design ever among Galaxy Watches. It is available in two models: the minimalist "Galaxy Watch8" and the "Galaxy Watch8 Classic," which features a physical rotating bezel and a quick button.

The Galaxy Watch8 series is equipped with a dynamic lug system optimized for wrist movement, enhancing both wearing comfort and the accuracy of health metric measurements. The One UI 8 Watch interface allows users to access key information with minimal interaction, and for the first time in the Galaxy Watch series, Gemini is included.

Additional features from Samsung Health include: Running Coach, Sleep Time Guidance, measurement of "vascular stress" changes during sleep, and antioxidant index measurement.

Samsung Electronics will provide customers who purchase the "Galaxy Watch8 series" by September 30 with three "20% discount coupons for genuine watch bands and accessories" usable on Samsung.com.
