Discussing Improvements in Education Across Six Technical Fields
Main text: The Institute for Technology Transfer to Developing Countries at Korea University of Technology and Education (Director: Cho Hyunchan) announced on the 25th that it had successfully held the "2nd Seminar on Improving the Operation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions" in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the 24th.
This seminar was attended by 42 officials, administrators, and professors from major educational institutions such as the Ethiopian Ministry of Labor and Skills, the Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute, and Satellite Polytechnic Colleges. The participants discussed the outcomes and lessons learned from the project, as well as measures to improve training institutions.
The seminar was organized as part of the "Capacity Building Project for Managers and Teachers of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Ethiopia," which is conducted by Korea University of Technology and Education and overseen by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Since 2020, this project has contributed to the training of local teachers by improving curricula, developing teaching materials, and supplying equipment in six technical fields: electrical and electronics, architecture, road construction, automotive, ICT, and apparel.
Professor Park Seungcheol (Department of Computer Engineering) stated, "Through this seminar, senior officials and field stakeholders were able to directly confirm the project's achievements and explore directions for improvement," adding, "I hope these discussions will provide practical help for the future of technical and vocational education in Ethiopia."
Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2005, the Institute for Technology Transfer to Developing Countries at Korea University of Technology and Education has been leading engineering technology-based vocational education ODA projects in regions such as Egypt, Morocco, and Uzbekistan.
