Gochang County to Conduct Resident Registration Verification Until November 26

Focusing on Centenarians, Suspected Deceased, and Other Priority Groups

On July 25, Gochang County in North Jeolla Province announced that it will conduct the 2025 Resident Registration Verification for all generations until November 26, 2025.

The Resident Registration Verification is an investigation to check whether the registered address matches the actual place of residence. The process will begin with a non-face-to-face digital survey (until August 31), followed by an in-person survey conducted by joint teams from towns and townships (from September 1 to October 23).

For the non-face-to-face digital survey, a representative from each household can respond to all verification items by accessing the government’s digital survey system through the Government24 app.

The in-person survey will target households that did not participate in the non-face-to-face digital survey and those classified as “priority survey households.” However, even if a priority survey household participates in the non-face-to-face digital survey, an in-person visit will still be conducted if a detailed verification of their actual residence is required.

This year’s priority survey households include those with: residents aged 100 or older, individuals whose whereabouts have been unknown for more than five years, suspected deceased individuals, households in vulnerable welfare groups, and households with children who have been absent from school for a long period or who are of school age but not enrolled.

If the verification finds a mismatch between actual residence and registered address, administrative measures will be taken by November 20, 2025, after a notification and public announcement process. Those who voluntarily report during the verification period may receive up to an 80% reduction in fines under the Resident Registration Act.

Yang Miok, head of the General Civil Affairs Division, stated, "Resident Registration Verification is a fundamental survey that serves as the basis for national and local government policy-making, so we ask for the active participation of all county residents."
