Air Premia Marks 8th Anniversary, Eyes Global Expansion Centered on North America

Air Premia announced on July 25 that it will celebrate its 8th anniversary on July 27.

Air Premia was launched in July 2017 under the name 'Airpiare', taking its first step toward becoming a hybrid airline specializing in medium- and long-haul international routes. After changing to its current name in 2018, the company laid the foundation for growth as a global airline by obtaining an international air transport business license in March 2019.

Although the introduction of aircraft and preparations for operation were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic that swept the world in 2020, Air Premia introduced the latest long-haul aircraft, the B787-9 Dreamliner, in April 2021. In July of the same year, the company received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and began its first operation on the Gimpo-Jeju route, officially launching its business.

Subsequently, in December 2021, Air Premia laid the groundwork for international operations by launching cargo flights to Singapore. In July 2022, the company began full-scale international passenger services by opening a passenger route to Singapore. In October of the same year, for the first time in 30 years since the two major national carriers, Air Premia launched a regular Incheon-LA route, officially entering the long-haul route market.

Currently, Air Premia operates eight B787-9 Dreamliners and plans to add one more aircraft within the year, bringing the total to nine. The airline currently operates four routes each in North America (LA, New York, San Francisco, Honolulu) and Asia (Bangkok, Narita, Da Nang, Hong Kong). In the second half of this year, Air Premia plans to launch new routes and increase flights, focusing on major cities in the United States.

Yoo Myungsub, CEO of Air Premia, said, "We will continue to make bold investments in safety and service innovation to become a global airline, with a focus on the North American market."
