Yeonggwang Livestock Cooperative Association (headed by Kim Yongchul) has rolled up its sleeves to support local farmers who suffered severe damage, including flooded livestock barns, due to the heavy rainfall that lasted for three days starting on the 17th.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration and other sources, this torrential downpour brought an unusually large amount of rain in a short period, causing significant damage not only to residential areas and farmland but also to livestock facilities. In fact, Yeonggwang County alone experienced 257mm of rainfall in a single day on the 17th, suffering from one of the heaviest rainfalls on record.
Immediately after the damage occurred, Yeonggwang Livestock Cooperative quickly assessed the emergency situation and, following its crisis response manual, provided free sawdust to affected farms. In addition, in order to prevent livestock epidemics, the cooperative simultaneously conducted fumigation and spraying disinfection activities, carrying out sanitation work throughout the affected areas.
Furthermore, as concerns grew over wastewater from flooded manure storage facilities flowing into nearby farmland, employees were dispatched directly to the sites to focus on emergency prevention measures and flood recovery efforts.
Kim Yongchul, head of the cooperative, stated, "Yeonggwang Livestock Cooperative will stand by livestock farmers until the end so that those suffering from this heavy rainfall can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
