Seong Byeongheon, a member of the Sejong City Council who was sentenced to one year and six months in prison on July 24 for charges including indecent assault and false accusation, immediately filed an appeal on the same day.
The Daejeon District Court, presided over by Judge Lee Mina, sentenced Seong to imprisonment but did not take him into custody in the courtroom. The court allowed time for possible settlement and recovery for the victims, as there was no concern about destruction of evidence or risk of flight.
