The special prosecutor's team led by Min Jungki, which is investigating the various allegations surrounding First Lady Kim Keonhee, will summon and question the presidential aides known as the so-called "Three Key Gatekeepers."
On July 24, the special prosecutor's team announced that they plan to summon and question former aide Yoo Kyungok at 10 a.m. and former aide Jung Jiweon at 5 p.m. on July 25.
Former aide Yoo is known to have directly received a luxury bag from Jeon Seongbae, also known as Geonjin Bopsa, who had obtained it from a Unification Church affiliate as a gift for the First Lady, and then exchanged it for another bag. Former aide Jung is known to be the actual user of the contact saved as "Keonhee2" in Jeon's mobile phone.
The special prosecutor's team stated that the First Lady's side submitted an opinion requesting that each allegation be investigated on separate dates, that a minimum of three to four days of rest be guaranteed between each summons, and that questioning be concluded before 6 p.m. The special prosecutor's team has notified the First Lady to appear on August 6.
In response, Special Prosecutor Oh Junghui said, "The special prosecutor will conduct the summons and questioning in accordance with the law and principles."
Additionally, the special prosecutor's team conducted raids related to the "Geonjin Bopsa Gate," targeting the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Samil Accounting Corporation. On this day, investigators were dispatched to Samil Accounting Corporation in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and KOICA headquarters in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, to secure relevant materials.
The special prosecutor's team is verifying allegations that the Unification Church attempted to win a government Cambodia Official Development Assistance (ODA) project through Jeon. In this process, it has been alleged that Yoon, who was then the head of the Unification Church World Headquarters, delivered two necklaces worth 60 million won each and two luxury bags worth 10 million won each to the First Lady via Jeon as part of a business solicitation.
