Announcing the 'G-Nomics Five-Year Plan' to Lead as an Industry-Centered City

Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, commented on the successful progress of the 19th Hanstar Celebrity Baseball Tournament, sponsored by The Kim Law Firm and currently being held at Janghang Baseball Stadium in Goyang, as well as the positive impact the tournament is having on the city.
In an interview on July 21 at the mayor’s office in Goyang City Hall with Hanstar Media, the organizer and host of the celebrity baseball tournament, Mayor Lee stated, "Through this tournament, the image of Goyang Special City as a sports city will be further highlighted, and it is expected to become a venue for cultural and community-based sports where everyone can come together." He added, "In particular, I believe that this event will draw the interest and participation of citizens who love baseball, promote the activation of amateur baseball, and have a positive effect not only on the local economy but also on enhancing the city’s brand value."
Currently, Goyang City is equipped with sports facilities such as Goyang Sports Complex and Goyang Gymnasium, as well as 17 soccer fields, 22 badminton courts, and 10 tennis courts. The city is also steadily expanding infrastructure for areas lacking in sports and cultural facilities, such as the all-weather court at Seongsa Municipal Tennis Court, which opened in June, the Gwan-san-dong multipurpose stadium, and the Seongseok-dong Sports Complex. Mayor Lee explained, "The creation of various sports facilities by utilizing idle spaces such as underpasses is a representative example of transforming hidden urban spaces into leisure facilities for citizens." He continued, "Through the 'School Sports Facility Sharing Promotion Project,' sports facilities at 11 schools in Goyang have been opened to citizens, and so far, more than 4,500 people have participated, contributing to the expansion of the base for everyday sports."
Regarding measures to encourage citizens' participation in sports and leisure activities, Mayor Lee emphasized, "Above all, it is important to create an environment where citizens can naturally encounter sports in their daily lives." He said, "In the case of Goyang City, representative examples include Ilsan Lake Park, the 115-kilometer-long Goyang Nuri-gil, 442 kilometers of bicycle paths, and ecological exploration trails, which provide an important foundation for citizens to enjoy healthy leisure activities." He added, "We are also supporting more citizens to enjoy sports and leisure by offering sports classes by discipline, senior sports, outdoor programs, and other sports programs tailored to various ages and needs."
Previously, on July 9, at a press conference marking the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration, Mayor Lee announced the 'G-Nomics Five-Year Plan' to lead Goyang Special City as an industry-centered city. The five-year plan includes: Jumpnomics, which fosters advanced industries by embracing businesses; AInomics, which prepares for the future with artificial intelligence; Mobilinomics, which develops future transportation industries such as autonomous driving and UAM; Festanomics, which connects performances, exhibitions, sports, and broadcasting to industry; and Ecnomics, which utilizes ecological resources.
Mayor Lee stated, "This is not just a simple vision, but a practical and feasible action plan that will determine the future of Goyang City." He continued, "We plan to restructure the city and create changes that citizens can truly feel, moving forward as a self-sustaining city and an economic special city where people can make a living on their own?Goyang."
