Council of Chairs from Five Gwangju Districts Donates Special Fund for Heavy Rain Victims The Chairpersons' Council of Gwangju District Councils donated a special fund of 5 million won to help victims affected by the heavy rain. Provided by Gwangju Community Chest of Korea

The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (hereafter referred to as Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on July 24 that the Council of District Council Chairs of Gwangju Metropolitan City donated a special fund of 5 million won to assist residents affected by the recent heavy rainfall.


The donation ceremony was held in the Nanum Culture Hall on the second floor of the Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae building earlier that morning. Attendees included Kim Myungsoo, Chair of the Gwangsan District Council (and President of the Council of District Council Chairs), Moon Sunhwa, Chair of the Dong District Council, Jeon Seungil, Chair of the Seo District Council, Nam Hohyun, Chair of the Nam District Council, and Choi Moosong, Chair of the Buk District Council.


Kim Myungsoo, Chair of the Gwangsan District Council, stated, "As representatives of the citizens of the five districts of Gwangju, the council chairs have come together to share in the pain of our neighbors. We hope that this small but meaningful donation will provide real help to those in need."


Gu Jaegil, President of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae, said, "We are grateful that the local councils have taken the initiative to participate in supporting neighbors affected by the heavy rain. We hope that Gwangju's spirit of warm solidarity will spread throughout the country."


Meanwhile, Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae is currently conducting a 'Special Fundraising for Heavy Rain Damage' campaign until August 17. Donations can be made through the Gwangju Bank account of the Community Chest of Korea.
