Supporting Disaster Recovery Through Inter-Governmental Solidarity
Goseong County has dispatched emergency recovery personnel to the Sinan-myeon area of Sancheong County, which suffered extensive damage from record-breaking heavy rainfall between July 22 and July 25, to support on-site restoration efforts.
This support was provided in response to the severe flooding that brought more than 600mm of rain to the Sancheong area from July 17 to July 19, resulting in multiple casualties and significant property damage. Goseong County has taken swift action to help the affected region return to normal as quickly as possible.
Goseong County formed a support team of 90 staff members, deploying them to the site according to a daily allocation plan. The team is assisting with recovery work such as removing sediment from flooded homes and greenhouses, and improving the living environment, in order to help local residents restore their daily lives quickly.
County Governor Lee Sanggeun stated, "Disasters are not just the problems of a single region, but of all of us, and the place where administration must truly reach is the site itself." He added, "I hope that the participation of Goseong County officials in this recovery effort, carried out with a sense of duty, will provide even a small but warm comfort to the residents."
Meanwhile, Goseong County expects that this recovery support will serve as a model case of organic cooperation between local governments, while also providing public officials with a valuable opportunity to reflect on the true essence of administration.
