At around 7:35 p.m. on July 23, a ground subsidence occurred at a construction site in Imun-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.
According to the Dongdaemun District Office, the ground sank to a depth of 2 meters and a length of 5 meters at the parking lot construction site of the Imun 2-dong Complex Government Office. As a result, a nearby building tilted, and one construction worker who was inside was trapped but later rescued. As of now, there have been no other reported casualties.
Police and fire authorities have been dispatched to the scene and are controlling traffic in the area. The district office issued a safety alert via text message at 9:34 p.m., stating, "Due to ground subsidence near the construction site at 217-6 Imun-dong, access to the area is currently restricted. Please use alternate routes for vehicles, and nearby residents are advised to avoid the area."
