Yongin City Approves Project Plan
Number of Units to Increase by 54
The Hanguk Apartment complex in Suji District 1, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, will be remodeled into a mid- to high-rise complex with 470 units. Compared to the existing apartment, the number of floors will increase by up to six, and the number of units will increase by 54.
On July 23, the Yongin city government announced that it had approved the housing construction project plan submitted by the Hanguk Apartment Remodeling Housing Association.
The apartment, located at 699 Pungdeokcheon-dong, Suji-gu, within Suji District 1, is a 16-story mid-rise apartment complex built in 1995. The association was established in 2020 and has since been promoting the remodeling project.
According to the project plan, the existing five buildings, which are one basement floor and 16 above-ground floors, will be transformed through remodeling into six buildings with four basement floors and 16 to 22 above-ground floors. The number of units, which was previously 416 units with exclusive areas of 62 to 84 square meters, will increase by 54 to 470 units with exclusive areas of 75 to 105 square meters. All additional units will be sold to the general public.
The newly constructed apartments will include 160 units of 75 square meters, 22 units of 78 square meters, 256 units of 94 square meters, and 32 units of 105 square meters. The complex will feature community facilities such as a resident fitness center and a small library. The number of parking spaces per unit will also increase from 0.76 to 1.6 through the construction of an underground parking lot.
The current Housing Act stipulates that for apartments older than 15 years, approval of the project plan by the head of the local government is required in order to carry out extension remodeling. Previously, in August of last year, the city approved remodeling project plans for three apartments within the Suji District: Choeipmaeul, Bowon, and Dongbu.
According to the city, in addition to the Hanguk Apartment, Seongbok Station River Park in Sanghyeon-dong and Dodammaeul 7th Complex Tririche in Jukjeon-dong have each applied for project plan approval.
