'2025 MITA International Academic Conference' Held in Jeju... AI Convergence Technologies Gather in One Place

Researchers from Five Countries Participate in the Korean Multimedia Society Conference
Over 100 Papers Presented and Workshop Tracks Operated

The Korean Multimedia Society (President: Kim Byungkyu, Professor of Artificial Intelligence Engineering at Sookmyung Women's University) is holding the '2025 MITA (International Conference on Multimedia Information Technology and Applications)' international academic conference at the Grand Hyatt Jeju from July 21 to July 24, 2025.

MITA is an international academic conference held annually both domestically and abroad. This year, it is jointly hosted with the Japanese NOLTA (Nonlinear Theory and Its Applications) Society and the Taiwanese IPPR (Chinese Image Processing & Pattern Recognition) Society. Researchers from more than five countries participated in this event, which was held both offline and online.

A total of about 100 papers were presented at this year's conference. Through two workshops focusing on general papers and special topics, various research achievements were shared in fields such as AI-based multimedia technology, communication signal processing, and industrial applications.

At the 'Complex Communication & Multimedia Science (CCMS 2025)' workshop, co-organized by the Korean Multimedia Society and Japan's NOLTA, AI technologies related to multimedia were introduced. At the 'Smart Inspection System (WSIS 2025)' workshop, organized by Taiwan's IPPR, AI convergence technologies applied to industrial sites were presented.

Kim Byungkyu, President of the Society, said, "Active discussions with overseas researchers took place, focusing on AI-based multimedia intelligence and theoretical interpretation technologies that have recently attracted attention," and added, "MITA is establishing itself as a hub for knowledge exchange, leading the development of next-generation intelligent media and convergence technologies."

Kim Chiyong, Professor of Game Engineering at Dong-Eui University and Honorary President of the Society, said, "World-renowned scholars participated, engaging in discussions and presentations, setting a new milestone for the development of the domestic AI industry," and continued, "The Korean Multimedia Society will continue to strive to share the latest research achievements through international cooperation."

Founded in Busan in 1997, the Korean Multimedia Society is the largest academic society in Korea in the fields of artificial intelligence, multimedia, and ICT applications, with approximately 9,000 members. It has received high marks in academic journal evaluations by the National Research Foundation of Korea and continues to promote active research exchanges between academia and industry through annual international conferences and workshops.
