Gratitude and Encouragement for Paramedics and Civilians
Who Revived a Cardiac Arrest Patient
On July 23, Masan Fire Station in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held a ceremony to express gratitude and encouragement by presenting Heart Saver certificates and badges to four paramedics and one civilian who saved a citizen's precious life through CPR and prompt emergency care.
The Heart Saver is an honorable award given to paramedics or ordinary citizens who have revived a cardiac arrest patient through emergency procedures such as CPR. The term means "a person who has revived a life."
At the award ceremony, Jung Eunkyung, Fire Lieutenant of the Jungang 119 Safety Center, and Kim Hoichang and Ahn Sunghoon, Firefighters, were recognized for responding to a report on January 15 that an employee had collapsed in a building in Sinpo-dong and saving the person's life with CPR.
Kim Eunha, Fire Sergeant of the Guam 119 Safety Center, was honored for saving a citizen's life on November 1 of last year by providing rapid emergency care after confirming cardiac arrest while transporting a patient suffering from paralysis and respiratory distress in an ambulance.
In addition, civilian honoree Han Hongcheol made a significant contribution to saving a precious life on June 16 of last year by discovering a colleague in cardiac arrest due to electric shock at Robot Land and actively performing CPR until paramedics arrived.
Jang Changmun, Chief of Masan Fire Station, said, "I am grateful to everyone who protected lives with a sense of duty even in urgent situations. We will do our utmost to protect the lives and safety of citizens through specialized fire services."
