KT Wins Police Bodycam Project... Implementing Smart Policing with AI

KT announced on July 23 that it has signed a contract worth 19.5 billion won with the National Police Agency for the "Police Bodycam Introduction Project," officially launching efforts to build a digital-based public safety infrastructure. The core of the project is to distribute bodycams to approximately 14,000 police officers stationed at police substations and precincts nationwide, aiming to enhance on-site response capabilities and improve the public's sense of safety. This is the first project to be carried out since bodycams were officially recognized as standard equipment following the amendment of the Police Officers' Duty Execution Act, and it will be implemented over the next five years.

KT will provide various features through an artificial intelligence (AI)-based Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS), including ensuring the integrity of field video footage, automatic identification and anonymization of sensitive information, and AI analysis-based response support. The system also includes wireless transmission and original data preservation functions, making it highly optimized for digital policing.

In addition, KT has secured the "112 Emergency Call System-Linked Smart Device Project." The company will supply smartphones and tablets to patrol cars nationwide, contributing to the acceleration of digital innovation in public safety.
