"I hope that the livelihood recovery consumption coupon will serve as more than just simple support and become an opportunity to inject real vitality into the local economy, including small business owners and neighborhood commercial districts. We will spare no administrative support until the distribution of the consumption coupons is complete."
Lee Seungwon, Deputy Mayor of Economic Affairs for Sejong City, made these remarks on July 22 while inspecting the status of the livelihood recovery consumption coupon distribution during visits to the administrative welfare centers in Dodam-dong and Jochiwon-eup in the first week of the program's rollout.
The Deputy Mayor's site visits were organized both to check the operational status for the smooth distribution of the livelihood recovery consumption coupons and to encourage the dedicated staff. He reviewed the equipment and personnel arrangements at the dedicated service counters and urged swift on-site action to prevent any confusion or delays during the application process.
The livelihood recovery consumption coupon program, launched by the Lee Jaemyung administration, aims to stabilize citizens' livelihoods, boost consumption, and help small business owners recover sales. The coupons began full-scale distribution to all citizens on July 21. The eligible recipients are 387,105 citizens who, as of June 18, have their resident registration in Sejong City. The coupons are distributed in a customized manner, with amounts ranging from 180,000 won to a maximum of 430,000 won per person, depending on income level. Previously, the city established and has been operating an initial system for seamless coupon distribution by forming a dedicated task force and running township and district implementation teams from the preparatory stage.
In particular, to ensure that citizens applying for the coupons are not inconvenienced by the heat wave, waiting rooms have been set up and provided inside the administrative welfare centers. Starting July 28, a visiting application service will also be offered for seniors and those with mobility difficulties.
As of noon on July 22, a total of 96,296 livelihood recovery consumption coupons had been distributed (90,385 online and 5,911 offline).
