Mayor Kang attended a public hearing on taxi fare adjustment held at the Gwangju Traffic Culture Training Center in Buk-gu, Gwangju, in the afternoon, and said, "More than 90% of the construction for Phase 1 of Urban Railway Line 2 has been completed, and we are in the final stages of the work." He added, "Even if there are inconveniences, I kindly ask citizens to wait just a little longer."

He went on to express his feelings, saying, "The Urban Railway Line 2 is making life unbearable. I don't even know why it was built. We are taking on debt, and citizen inconvenience is only increasing, so all we get is criticism."

Previously, on July 9, Gwangju City announced that it would complete the road paving for Phase 1 of Urban Railway Line 2, which has caused traffic inconvenience for six years due to construction delays, by December 22.
