Carrot is leading this transformation, making secondhand trading more accessible.
On July 23, Carrot announced that its 'AI Writing for Secondhand Trading' feature, introduced in May, has a reuse rate of 89.8% over the past three months. The feature also maintains a positive satisfaction rate of around 90% in user surveys. It is receiving favorable reviews, especially from users who feel overwhelmed and unsure about how to write a sales post.
This feature was developed by Carrot to lower the entry barrier for users who hesitated to engage in secondhand trading due to the hassle of writing posts. When a user uploads a photo of the item they want to sell, AI analyzes the image and automatically suggests the product name, category, item condition, and detailed description. It goes beyond simply recognizing the type or brand of the product, filling in information frequently exchanged in actual transactions and addressing questions buyers may have. For example, when selling a camera, the user can upload a photo, and AI will analyze it to identify characteristics such as brand, product name, and color, then automatically generate a title and description. This helps anyone easily create a natural and highly accurate post.
Carrot's AI not only writes posts but also assists with pricing, which is a core aspect of secondhand trading. This is done through the recently introduced 'Find My Item Price' feature. This function also analyzes photos of the item for sale and provides an estimated selling price. The AI presents not only the title and description, but also the selling prices of identical or similar items that have already been sold on Carrot, allowing users to refer to recommended price ranges when setting their own price. With just a photo upload, users can write a post using AI writing, refer to the recommended price provided by AI, and simply enter their desired selling price and preferred transaction location.
The reason Carrot is actively incorporating AI technology into secondhand trading is to improve overall transaction satisfaction and enhance the user experience. As the efficiency of post creation increases, this positively impacts metrics that lead to actual transactions, which Carrot believes directly translates into greater platform competitiveness. Carrot has also seen positive results in user growth from introducing the 'AI Posting' feature, which automatically analyzes uploaded images and generates secondhand trading posts, in its global service 'Carrot' in Canada.
