Seo-gu also plans to support elderly residents who use senior centers in Yudeok-dong and Seochang-dong, where buildings were flooded due to heavy rains, by providing Cheonwon Guksi store coupons and 1,000 meal kits. Previously, Seo-gu provided 40 Cheonwon Guksi meal kits to disaster victims who had stayed in temporary shelters due to the torrential rain.
Seo-gu is also actively utilizing its human networks to quickly assess the damage situation. The Our Neighborhood Neighbor Care Group and 370 customized senior care managers are conducting welfare checks on more than 5,000 elderly people living alone and those at risk of solitary death, identifying and assisting 16 affected residents, thereby operating a dense safety net.
Presidents of merchant associations at all 119 alley-type shopping districts throughout Seo-gu are also conducting their own inspections to check for flooded stores and plan to take immediate restoration measures in cooperation with the Seo-gu Office when necessary.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, stated, "In response to this record-breaking heavy rainfall, we are mobilizing all of Seo-gu's human resources to ensure rapid recovery and comprehensive support," adding, "We will fulfill our role as a community-focused, resident-centered local government."
