The "2025 K-Science World Science Tourism" program, which offers tours of Daejeon's leading government-funded research institutes, science companies, tourist attractions, and cultural facilities, will launch its first tour on July 22, 2025.


This program is being operated in advance of the development of a science tourism package linked to the "Complex Science Experience Land," which is scheduled for completion in 2028. It has been designed to provide content that allows participants to experience a wide range of science, culture, art, and entertainment elements.


The main participating institutions include the National Science Museum, Daejeon Citizen Observatory, Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), KAIST, Nexferium, Ship and Offshore Plant Research Institute, GN Soft, and Bioneer, among other major scientific institutions and companies in Daejeon.


In addition, visits to Expo Science Park, Sung Sim Dang, Hanbat Arboretum, Hanbit Tower Cafe Vino, Daejeon Dream Arena, and Daejeon Museum of Art?representative tourist and cultural attractions in Daejeon?will further enrich the science tourism experience.


The first phase of the program will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from July 22 to August 15, 2025, coinciding with the summer vacation period. The second phase will be held regularly every Saturday from September to November 2025.


In particular, during the 0si Festival on August 8-9 and August 15-16, the program will offer an overnight, two-day tour that includes career mentoring at KAIST and attendance at the 0si Festival.


Son Cheolwoong, Director of Future Strategy Industries at Daejeon City, stated, "The 2025 K-Science World Science Tourism is a strategic content initiative that combines Daejeon's scientific infrastructure, including the Daedeok Research and Development Special Zone, with tourism. Through this program, we hope that not only local citizens but also science enthusiasts from across the country will visit Daejeon and experience firsthand the stature of Daejeon as the science capital."
