Plus M Entertainment announced on July 22 that the films 'Project Y' and 'Face' have been officially invited to the Special Presentations section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, which opens in September.

'Project Y' tells the story of two characters, Miseon and Dokyung, who have nothing but each other and attempt to escape their harsh reality by stealing illicit cash and gold bars. Han Sohee and Jeon Jongseo star in the film, which is directed by Lee Hwan, known for works such as 'Young Adult Matters' and 'Park Hwayoung'.

The production is a collaboration between Climax Studio, which has previously presented works such as 'Hellbound', 'D.P.', and 'Concrete Utopia', and Wow Point, the company behind titles like 'Seonsan', 'Parasyte: The Grey', and 'Revelation'.

'Face' follows the story of Im Youngkyu, a blind master craftsman, and his son Im Donghwan as they investigate the mystery surrounding the death of the mother that has remained unsolved for 40 years. The film is a live-action adaptation of a comic written and illustrated by director Yeon Sangho in 2018, and features Park Jungmin, Kwon Haeho, Shin Hyunbin, Lim Sungjae, and Han Jihyun. Director Yeon has now been invited to the Toronto International Film Festival for the third time, following 'The Fake' and 'Hellbound'.

The Special Presentations section, to which both films have been invited, is a major program at the Toronto International Film Festival that showcases new works by leading directors and actors from around the world. In the past, films such as 'Parasite', 'Decision to Leave', and 'The Age of Shadows' have been featured in this section.

Giovanna Fulvi, Senior Programmer at the Toronto International Film Festival, described 'Project Y' as "a film marked by the powerful chemistry between the two actors and adrenaline-pumping action." Regarding 'Face', she commented that it "represents a bold turning point in Yeon Sangho's filmography."

Meanwhile, 'Face' is scheduled for release in September.
