Seongsan District of Changwon Special City Strengthens Safety Management of Food-Handling Establishments

Inspections of Multi-Use Facilities During the Summer Season

Seongsan District of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct inspections of multi-use facilities that handle food, such as beverage franchises, where consumption surges during the summer vacation season, in order to strengthen safety management. The inspections will continue until July 26.

This inspection targets 15 food preparation and sales establishments, including hamburger and coffee shops, as well as businesses located near vacation spots. Some of these establishments will undergo cross-inspections with Gimhae City.

The main inspection items include: hygienic handling of food and cleanliness of kitchens and other areas; compliance with food storage standards (frozen and refrigerated) and proper functioning of facilities; checking for the use or storage of products past their consumption date or without labeling; and, for food manufacturing and processing businesses, compliance with self-quality inspections and production log documentation requirements. All of these measures are aimed at preventing food poisoning during the summer.

Additionally, self-inspections of hygiene-vulnerable facilities will be conducted for establishments with a history of food poisoning incidents.
