Guro District Renovates Old Shelter... Enhances Welfare in Noise-Affected Area

A New Indoor "Four Seasons Shelter"
for Residents in Aircraft Noise-Affected Areas
Opens in Guro 2-dong with Support from Korea Airports Corporation

Guro District in Seoul (District Mayor Jang Inhong) has established an indoor "Four Seasons Shelter" for residents in Guro 2-dong, an area affected by aircraft noise.

This project is part of the Aircraft Community Support Program. With support from Korea Airports Corporation, the district demolished the old outdoor shelter, which had been directly exposed to sunlight and rain, and replaced it with a new indoor "Four Seasons Shelter" that can be used comfortably throughout the year.

The Guro 2-dong Four Seasons Shelter is an indoor space equipped with ceiling air conditioners and heaters, allowing residents to use it comfortably year-round, whether in the hot summer or cold winter. The use of wood-textured finishes adds a warm atmosphere, and interior lighting creates a bright and cozy environment.

Inside, long benches have been installed so anyone can sit and relax. The shelter features an open design with large glass windows that let in plenty of natural light. It is also equipped with a promotional monitor displaying district news in real time, an emergency call bell, and a closed-circuit (CC) TV for safety, making it a secure resting space.

The shelter is located in front of the Guro 2-dong Community Service Center, making it easily accessible and open for anyone to use freely. In particular, it is expected to serve as an open space where elderly residents or those affected by noise can rest comfortably regardless of the weather.

Jang Inhong, Mayor of Guro District, stated, "The Guro 2-dong Four Seasons Shelter is not just a simple rest area, but a practical facility that helps alleviate daily inconveniences for residents in noise-affected areas. We will continue to promote various support programs that residents can truly benefit from."
