According to business sources on the 21st, Chairman Chey visited OpenAI's headquarters in San Francisco, United States, early last week and met with CEO Altman. Key executives, including Kwak Noh-jung, President and CEO of SK hynix, were also present at the meeting.

Although the specific details of their conversation have not been disclosed, Chairman Chey is reported to have exchanged views with OpenAI on comprehensive cooperation measures, including AI semiconductors and the expansion of the AI ecosystem. The presence of President Kwak and other executives is believed to be related to discussions about SK hynix's high-bandwidth memory (HBM). SK hynix's HBM is a core component installed in NVIDIA GPUs, which OpenAI uses for AI model training.

Chairman Chey is also reported to have invited CEO Altman to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit, which will be held in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, this October. Previously, at the APEC Private Sector Steering Committee held on the 18th, Chairman Chey urged, "I ask each group to be more proactive in inviting global CEOs, leveraging their global networks and trust-based relationships."

This recent meeting between Chairman Chey and CEO Altman comes five months after their previous encounter in Seoul in February. The two have maintained a close relationship, having met consecutively in January and June last year as well.
