President Lee to Receive Work Reports from 2 to 3 Ministries
Chief Presidential Secretary Kang Hoonshik stated, "Over the past week, we have realized how powerless humans are in the face of nature, and it has been a time when we have deeply felt the heavy responsibility that, especially in times of disaster, the state is the final bastion for protecting the safety of its people."
On the 21st, Chief Secretary Kang presided over a senior aides meeting at the presidential office in Yongsan and made these remarks. According to Spokesperson Kang Yujeong, he also emphasized, "Let us make every effort to ensure a swift recovery response so that the disaster victims can find at least some comfort."
Chief Secretary Kang further stressed, "To fulfill the state's primary duty of safeguarding public safety, the cabinet of President Lee Jaemyung is working together in complete unity and order." The previous day, Prime Minister Kim Minseok visited the disaster recovery site in Gwangju, while Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Miryeong visited Sancheong in South Gyeongsang and Buyeo in South Chungcheong. Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Hojung visited the disaster sites and temporary shelters for disaster victims in Yesan and Dangjin, South Chungcheong.
In addition, Chief Secretary Kang noted that starting next week, the first cabinet meeting with the newly formed cabinet will take place, and President Lee Jaemyung is scheduled to receive work reports from two to three ministries. He also called for thorough preparation. Spokesperson Kang specified that the exact ministries to deliver the work reports have not yet been determined.
