Online Applications Outnumber Offline by 11 Times
On July 21, applications opened for the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon, which provides a basic 150,000 won to all citizens. Within just three hours, 4.15 million people had completed their applications.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as of 12:00 p.m. on the same day, 4,154,846 people had applied for the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon, representing 8.21% of those eligible. The total amount distributed was 754.5 billion won.
There were 3,794,977 online applications, which was about 11 times higher than the 334,652 offline applications.
By region, Sejong had the highest application rate at 9.13%. Jeonnam had the lowest application rate at 7.17%.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated, "During the distribution of the National Support Fund, about 5 million people applied per day. Compared to the past, applications and distributions are proceeding at a faster pace. We estimate that this is due to the effects of active publicity and high public expectations."
