Visiting Six Apartment Complexes from July 22 to 24
Gwangsan District has launched psychological support services for residents experiencing anxiety symptoms following the fire at the Kumho Tire Gwangju Plant.
On July 21, Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced that it will operate a 'Health and Psychological Recovery Support Service' from July 22 to 24 by visiting six apartment complexes near the site of the fire. In collaboration with the Gwangsan District Public Health Center and the Gwangsan District Mental Health Welfare Center, the program will provide mental health assessments, psychological counseling, early dementia screening, and health measurements.
This initiative aims to help stabilize the mental well-being of residents who have experienced anxiety and stress due to the fire, as well as to assess their basic health status. Cognitive function screening tests will also be conducted to identify residents at high risk for dementia at an early stage. For those classified as high-risk, the district will establish ongoing management plans, including connecting them to treatment services.
Previously, from July 9 to 11, the district also operated a 'Visiting Mutual Growth Health Center' at seven apartment complexes affected by the fire, providing health consultations and basic health check-ups.
