According to the headquarters on July 21, this program is based on the "Special Act on Safety Management of Multi-Use Businesses." It recognizes businesses as outstanding in safety management if they have, over the past three years, not experienced any fire incidents, not violated fire, building, electricity, or gas regulations, not violated evacuation facility regulations, and have conducted regular fire safety education or training for employees. The safety management status of these businesses is evaluated to determine eligibility.
The eligible businesses include general restaurants, cafes, karaoke rooms, PC rooms, bathhouses, private academies, goshiwon (study dormitories), postpartum care centers, and screen golf facilities. In total, there are 4,989 multi-use businesses within Jeonbuk province that qualify.
Businesses wishing to be recognized as outstanding must submit an application and the required documents to their local fire station by July 31. After the review of submitted documents and on-site inspections, the final list of outstanding safety management businesses will be announced on November 9, Firefighting Day.
Recognized outstanding businesses will receive several benefits: exemption from fire safety inspections and fire safety education for two years; issuance of a certificate recognizing them as an outstanding safety management business; a commendation from the Governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to the business owner; differentiated rates for fire liability insurance; and the "Outstanding Safety Management Business" designation displayed on major portals such as Naver.
So Cheolhwan, Head of the Fire Prevention and Safety Division at Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters, stated, "Multi-use businesses are representative spaces closely connected to daily life, where fire incidents can directly lead to casualties. Therefore, thorough safety management at all times is of utmost importance." He added, "The Outstanding Safety Management Business Recognition Program is designed to encourage voluntary preventive activities and to spread a culture of safety throughout the local community. We hope that many businesses will participate."
