Buan County Opens Shared Platform for "Hanpyeongsaeng Buan Mudflat Project"

Collaboration with World Vision, GS Caltex, KB Securities, and Others

Buan County in North Jeolla Province officially opened the online participation domain platform for the "Hanpyeongsaeng Buan Mudflat Project" on the 21st.

According to the county, the "Hanpyeongsaeng Buan Mudflat Project" is a nationwide mudflat conservation campaign in which each citizen owns one pyeong (approximately 3.3 square meters) of mudflat. The campaign aims to prevent reckless development of privately owned mudflats and to enhance the carbon storage capacity of mudflats by planting halophytes.

This project is being promoted in collaboration with Buan County, World Vision, GS Caltex, NH Nonghyup Bank Jeonbuk Headquarters, KB Securities, Hyundai Department Store, and the Global ESG Association.

Participants purchase one pyeong of mudflat and complete the registration of their share. They also take part in volunteer activities, such as visiting the mudflat site to plant and manage halophytes.

World Vision launched the domain "Gaettogether" to make it easier for the public to access and participate in the "Hanpyeongsaeng Buan Mudflat Project," which aims to protect the ecosystem and encourage visits to Buan County for local tours.

Gaettogether introduces the crisis facing mudflats and local villages, and then provides guidance on how to participate in the mudflat initiative. The platform is designed to spark curiosity and raise public interest in mudflat environments, and is expected to be highly effective in promoting the campaign to a wide audience.

The Hanpyeongsaeng Buan Mudflat Project received the grand prize at last year's National Basic Local Government Manifesto Best Practices Competition. It is expected to contribute to environmental conservation, carbon reduction, and an increase in the resident population.

Kim Byungtae, Director of Planning and Audit, stated, "The case of realizing and promoting an ESG+N project through public-private cooperation is very meaningful. I hope that the 'Gaettogether' domain will be actively promoted so that the public can participate in protecting ecological resources and in sustainable tourism experience programs."
