The Ministry of National Defense suspended the duties of Drone Operations Commander Kim Yongdae (Army Major General) on the 21st in connection with the special investigation into insurrection.
On this day, the Ministry of National Defense announced through a notice, "As of July 21, we have implemented a separation reassignment to suspend Commander Kim from his duties in connection with the special investigation into insurrection."
Meanwhile, the special prosecutor's team investigating the 12·3 Martial Law previously questioned Commander Kim as a suspect on charges of general treason under the Criminal Act, falsification of official documents, and abuse of authority on July 17, and then arrested him urgently. The special prosecutor reportedly believes that Commander Kim poses a risk of destroying evidence and fleeing.
Previously, Jeon Hagyu, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated earlier that day regarding the personnel action against Commander Kim, "We have been reviewing this since the latter part of last week," and added, "We will inform you once a decision is made regarding the personnel action."
