The 40th International Society for Animal Genetics Conference (ISAG 2025), the most prestigious international academic event in the field of animal genetics, opened in grand fashion on the 21st at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) in Daejeon, a city equipped with world-class scientific infrastructure such as KAIST, the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), and Daedeok Innopolis.
This conference, hosted by the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG), will run for six days until the 25th.
In particular, the event is attended by approximately 1,000 scholars and stakeholders from Korea and abroad, including more than 380 international experts from 25 countries.
During the conference, the latest research findings in animal genetics and life sciences will be presented, including animal genome analysis, livestock improvement technologies, genetic approaches to disease response, and strategies for addressing climate change. In addition, international cooperation measures for animal welfare and sustainable livestock production will be a major focus of discussion.

Taekgu Lee, Executive Vice Mayor for Political, Economic and Scientific Affairs of Daejeon City, stated, "I hope that this ISAG conference will become a global cooperation hub in the field of animal genetics," adding, "It will serve as a decisive opportunity to enhance Daejeon's status as a world-class science city."
Daejeon City expects that hosting this conference will not only increase the likelihood of attracting subsequent international events such as the World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production (WCGALP), but will also have a significant effect on revitalizing the local economy through the convergence of academic and tourism sectors.
