Anglers and a fishing boat were caught by the Coast Guard during a joint operation involving aircraft and patrol boats, after they engaged in illegal fishing activities on islands near Jindo, where entry is strictly prohibited due to the risk of fatal falls and other hazards.

According to the Seohae Regional Coast Guard Headquarters on the 21st, at around 11 a.m. on the 20th, a maritime patrol aircraft (CN-235) from the aviation unit discovered anglers fishing dangerously on Milmaedo Island and Donggalmaegiseom during an aerial patrol. The illegal activities were detected using the aircraft's surveillance equipment.

Entry to these islands is strictly prohibited. Fishing or any form of work on these islands is a clear violation of the Fishing Management and Promotion Act (measures for safe navigation, etc.) and the Natural Parks Act (entry ban).

The Coast Guard immediately used the aircraft's onboard Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) camera to secure footage of the illegal fishing activities. At the same time, in cooperation with a maritime patrol boat, they inspected and apprehended four anglers and fishing vessel A (7.93 tons), which had transported them to the island.

Lee Gyomin, Captain of the Muan Fixed-Wing Aviation Unit at Seohae Coast Guard, stated, "Some may mistakenly believe they can avoid detection by sneaking onto uninhabited islands for illegal fishing, but the Coast Guard operates a comprehensive 24-hour safety monitoring system over our waters from both sea and air. While marine leisure activities are welcome, it is important to foster a sound maritime culture that prioritizes safety."
