Now in its third year, the 'Ecopro Young Scientist Award' was established to inspire research motivation among young professors by serving as a bridge between industry and academia in the field of advanced materials research.

Founded in 1998, Ecopro has established itself as a leading eco-friendly company by developing and distributing catalysts that reduce harmful gases emitted from factories. Since then, the company has begun developing battery cathode materials technology and now leads the secondary battery materials industry.

The establishment of the Young Scientist Award by Ecopro reflects its growth story and aims to discover and support young professors in the fields of environment and energy.

Eligibility requirements for candidates include being under the age of 45 (born after July 1, 1980) and currently working as a domestic or foreign professor at a university in Korea. Candidates must have published at least five SCI-E (Science Citation Index Expanded) papers in the past three years. The award is divided into two fields: energy and environment. During the evaluation process, research and development achievements based on data using artificial intelligence (AI) platforms will be given preference.

Previously, Ecopro established an AI Innovation Office and declared the acceleration of AI-driven management. By giving preference to research and development utilizing AI in the evaluation of the Young Scientist Award, the company aims to support the wider adoption of AI in research fields.

Song Hojun, CEO of Ecopro, stated, "Industry-academia collaboration is essential for the advancement of eco-friendly and secondary battery industries," and added, "I hope the Ecopro Young Scientist Award serves as a small catalyst to encourage research achievements among young professors in academia."
