Toss Bank Joins Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon Program

Use Consumption Coupons with Debit Card

Toss Bank announced on the 21st that it will participate as a financial institution providing a debit card-based payment method for the government's "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon" initiative aimed at revitalizing the everyday economy.

The first phase of the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon program opens for applications starting at 9:00 a.m. on July 21, with the application period running until September 12. During the first week of applications (July 21?25), a five-day rotation system based on the last digit of the applicant's birth year will be implemented. From July 26 onward, anyone can freely check eligibility and apply regardless of birth year. Toss Bank will participate in this initiative by offering debit card payment as a method for using the consumption coupons.

Simply using a debit card for payment enables the use of the consumption coupon, which can be used at stores with annual sales of 3 billion KRW or less. Eligible business types include traditional markets, restaurants, clothing stores, hair salons, private academies, pharmacies, and clinics. The coupon cannot be used for online or electronic commerce, including department stores, large supermarkets, corporate supermarkets, franchise-owned stores, or shopping malls.

When making a payment at eligible businesses, the coupon balance is automatically deducted first. Users can check their usage history and remaining balance through the Toss application (app). The issued consumption coupons can be used until November 30, 2025, and any unused amount after the deadline will be automatically forfeited.

Amounts spent using the consumption coupons are also eligible for income tax deductions. In particular, payments made with debit cards qualify for a 30% income deduction rate, which is twice as high as the 15% rate for credit cards.

A Toss Bank representative stated, "We will actively support customers so they can use the consumption coupons easily and conveniently, in line with the government's efforts to revive the everyday economy," adding, "We will continue to do our best to provide tangible benefits to our customers and enhance financial convenience."
