Up to 49 Floors and 775 Units Planned for 203-5 Ichon-dong Area
Residents' Briefing Session Scheduled for August 5
Yongsan District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Heeyoung) will conduct a public inspection and collect residents' opinions on the 'Ichon 1 District Reconstruction and Maintenance Project Plan (draft)' from July 18 to August 18.
This draft plan originated from a residents' proposal in 2017 and was converted in April last year to the 'fast-track integrated planning pre-consultation' method. Since then, the district has held three rounds of advisory meetings and has made efforts to ensure the project plan harmoniously reflects both public interest and business viability.

The target site for the Ichon 1 District Reconstruction and Maintenance Project is located at 203-5 Ichon-dong, Yongsan District (23,543.8 square meters). A residential complex of up to 49 floors and 775 units is planned for development, including 197 public rental housing units.
According to the draft plan, the project includes the creation of a high-rise apartment complex with views of the Han River, integration of the transportation system with the adjacent Yongsan International Business District, unification of roads and pedestrian spaces through the establishment of a front open space, and the planning of social welfare facilities to respond to an aging society. The goal is to create a future-oriented urban space that goes beyond a simple residential complex.
The public inspection can be conducted at the Housing Division on the 7th floor of Yongsan District Office and at the office of the Ichon 1 District Housing Reconstruction and Maintenance Project Association Establishment Promotion Committee (16, Ichon-ro 18-gil, 1st floor). Opinions can be submitted by registered mail or by visiting the Housing Division of Yongsan District Office in person during the inspection period.
Additionally, a residents' briefing session will be held at 3:00 p.m. on August 5 in the main auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Ichon 2-dong Community Center. The district plans to proceed with the application for designation as a maintenance area to the Seoul Metropolitan Government after completing the procedures such as this public inspection and the residents' briefing session.
Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, "The Ichon 1 District Reconstruction and Maintenance Project is an important turning point to transform the aging residential area, which has not been improved for a long time, into a safe and pleasant living environment. We expect to create a systematic urban space through balanced development with the nearby International Business District, and since this public inspection marks the starting point, the district will spare no effort in providing active administrative support."
