Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor: Chung Moonheon) announced on July 21 that it will operate the "Yoon Dongju Literature Museum Literary Creation Program: One Star and ○○" for citizens until September this year, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation and the 80th anniversary of the death of poet Yoon Dongju.
This program has been organized to shed light on the life and literature of Yoon Dongju and to provide citizens with opportunities for literary creation. The program will be held across a total of five institutions in Jongno-gu, including local bookstores and libraries. Participating institutions include Peace Books, Seochon Geu Chaekbang, Maume Bookstore Seoga, Sowon Chaekdam, and Cheongun Literature Library.
Participants will attend four sessions at each venue, focusing on the poet as a theme, where they will read and appreciate poetry, and then express their impressions through their own creative writing. After the program concludes, the participants' works will be compiled into a joint anthology.
Citizens who attend all sessions without missing any will receive a book exchange voucher that can be used at the respective bookstore. Through these vouchers, participants can obtain books of their choice, allowing them to experience a connection between creative activities and reading.
In addition, Jongno-gu is currently recruiting citizens to participate in the contest-based programs of the "2025 Yoon Dongju Literature Festival." The contest is open to original compositions and video content under three minutes, themed on Yoon Dongju's works and life, as well as Liberation. Applications for the music festival will be accepted until August 10, and for the media contest until August 1. The winning entries will be presented to the public at the official events of the Yoon Dongju Literature Festival in September.
