Kim stated, "I have decided to run in order to set our party straight and regain the trust of the people in this crisis, where the foundation of a free Republic of Korea is under threat." He added, "If I become party leader, I will reform the People Power Party so that we can stop the reckless actions of the Lee Jaemyung administration and lead the free and democratic Republic of Korea to even greater heights."

He went on to say, "Under Lee Jaemyung's one-man dictatorship, Korea is no longer a democratic republic," and sharply criticized, "Anti-American, far-left, and criminal forces have taken over the Lee Jaemyung government and the Democratic Party."

He further stated, "I will rebuild the People Power Party and do everything to defend the free Republic of Korea."
