Junggu District in Daegu (headed by district chief Ryu Kyuha) announced that from July 8 to July 12, it removed 34 abandoned business signs with no owners.
As signs left unattended due to business closures or relocations have been damaging the cityscape and threatening the safety of citizens, Junggu District in Daegu has been conducting free removals to prevent safety accidents.

Since 2013, Junggu District Office in Daegu has carried out this project annually, removing a total of over 330 signs by last year. This year, after conducting a survey in April and accepting removal applications from May to June, the district completed the removal of 34 signs from July 8 to July 12.
Ryu Kyuha, chief of Junggu District in Daegu, stated, "The project to remove closed business signs, which has been carried out steadily every year, has received a great response from citizens, so we plan to continue it going forward." He also requested, "In particular, we ask for active cooperation to ensure that signs are not left unattended for long periods, such as by having building owners request tenants to remove signs when businesses close."
Meanwhile, Junggu District in Daegu plans to continue the project in the second half of the year. Applications will be accepted starting in August, and removals will be carried out in September. Detailed schedules and application methods can be found on the Junggu District Office website.
