Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Ready for Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons, No Issues; Applications Open from July 21
This initiative is a large-scale consumption promotion policy targeting all residents, with applications open until September 12.
To ensure the rapid and stable distribution of the consumption coupons, the city has operated a "Livelihood Recovery Coupon Task Force" since July 14 and secured on-site response personnel for each town, township, and neighborhood.
Notably, even before the supplementary budget was allocated, the city proactively secured its own financial resources in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, thereby establishing the foundation for implementation at an early stage.
Applications for the consumption coupons can be submitted both online?through credit card company websites and apps, as well as the Gumi Sarang Gift Certificate app?and offline, at town, township, and neighborhood community centers and designated bank branches.
To prevent congestion during the initial application period, a "day-of-the-week application system" based on the last digit of the applicant's birth year will be implemented in the first week. Those whose birth years end in 1 or 6 may apply on Monday; 2 or 7 on Tuesday; 3 or 8 on Wednesday; 4 or 9 on Thursday; and 5 or 0 on Friday.
The amount distributed will vary by income group: ordinary citizens will receive 180,000 won per person; the near-poor and single-parent families will receive 330,000 won; and recipients of basic livelihood security will receive 430,000 won. The coupons can be used via a selectable method?credit card, debit card, prepaid card, or Gumi Sarang Gift Certificate?enhancing user convenience.
Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "These consumption coupons will provide tangible support to household finances and serve as an opportunity to inject vitality into the stagnant local economy. We will ensure seamless administration from distribution to usage so that local small businesses and traditional markets can experience real sales recovery."
Meanwhile, Gumi City plans to maximize the local consumption effect of the coupons by strengthening guidance and publicity for stores where they can be used, such as traditional markets and neighborhood commercial districts. The city also intends to improve the effectiveness of the program by conducting post-distribution satisfaction surveys and managing distribution channels.
