The special prosecutor team led by Cho Eunseok, which is investigating the insurrection and external disturbance cases related to the 12·3 Martial Law, summoned Kim Youngho, Minister of Unification, on July 20.
The special prosecutor team called in Minister Kim as a reference witness on the morning of the same day and is currently questioning him. Minister Kim appeared at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, where the special prosecutor's office is located, at around 9:46 a.m., but did not respond to questions regarding the circumstances under which he attended the Cabinet meeting immediately before the declaration of martial law.
The special prosecutor team is expected to further confirm details from Minister Kim regarding the circumstances of the Cabinet meetings held before and after the declaration of martial law on December 3 of last year.
Minister Kim is one of the five Cabinet members whom former President Yoon Sukyeol first called on the day martial law was declared to inform them of his plan.
Meanwhile, the special prosecutor team investigating the insurrection postponed the resummoning of Kim Yongdae, Commander of the Drone Operations Command, which had been scheduled for 10 a.m. on the same day.
