Libraries Expand Cultural Opportunities Through Various Performances

The library is transforming from a simple place for studying or reading into an open cultural space, offering a variety of performances such as vocal music, jazz, sand art, bubble shows, Korean traditional music, and classical music.

To expand opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture in their daily lives, Daejeon City will regularly host the "Ogada" weekend performance series at Dongdaejeon Library from July to December, holding events every month.

"Ogada" is a program designed to allow people to naturally enjoy culture and the arts as they come and go from the library. It is open to everyone, with performances held in open spaces such as the first-floor lobby, outdoor stage, and auditorium of Dongdaejeon Library.

The first performance will take place on July 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the library's first-floor lobby. Titled "A Time to Listen to Poetry," this event will feature soprano Lee Myungyun and baritone Kim Suhan performing Korean art songs set to poetry, accompanied by pianist Choi Yoonjung.

Next, on August 9 at 2:00 p.m., the "Jazz & Classic in Midsummer" concert will be held at the same location, featuring jazz vocalist Jung Jisu and the band Baroque in Blue. Refreshing jazz melodies are expected to captivate the audience and help them beat the summer heat.

On September 13 at 11:00 a.m., sand art artist Onthesand will present a fantastic visual performance themed "Reading Picture Books with Sand" in the basement auditorium. This event is expected to attract the interest of families attending together.

On October 25 at 11:00 a.m., the outdoor stage on the first floor will host the children's bubble show "Bubble Bubble Bogeulbogeulhae!" with MC Sunho leading the event in a cheerful atmosphere.

This will be followed by "Library Saturday Pungnyu" in November and "Library Classic with Light" in December.
