President Lee Jaemyung will receive an internal briefing regarding the confirmation hearings on the 20th. On the morning of the 19th, Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, announced to the media, "The internal briefing and related follow-up discussions regarding the confirmation hearings are scheduled for tomorrow."
Previously, Woo Sangho, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs, stated in a radio interview that a comprehensive report would be delivered to President Lee over the weekend, and that decisions regarding the nominees' positions would also be made. From July 14 to 18, confirmation hearings were held for 16 ministerial nominees who will form the first cabinet of the Lee Jaemyung administration.
The main points of interest are the fate of Lee Jinsook, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education nominee, who faces allegations of thesis plagiarism and unauthorized use, as well as issues regarding her child's illegal early overseas education, and Kang Sunwoo, Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee, who is embroiled in controversies over abuse of power toward National Assembly aides and false explanations.
Meanwhile, on the previous day, President Lee approved the appointments of Jeong Sungho as Minister of Justice, Koo Yooncheol as Minister of Economy and Finance, Cho Hyun as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Kim Jeonggwan as Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
