Mayor Jin Kyohoon of Gangseo-gu: "Proactive Response to Heavy Rain Must Be Thorough, Even to the Point of Excess"

Gangseo-gu Holds 'Emergency Countermeasure Meeting for Flood and Typhoon Preparedness'

Gangseo-gu District Office in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Jin Kyohoon) announced on July 18 that it held an 'Emergency Countermeasure Meeting for Flood and Typhoon Preparedness' at the district's Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, with directors and heads of relevant departments in attendance.

Mayor Jin Kyohoon of Gangseo-gu: "Proactive Response to Heavy Rain Must Be Thorough, Even to the Point of Excess"

Mayor Jin received reports on the current flood damage situation and response measures to heavy rainfall, and instructed, "Make the safety of residents the top priority and spare no effort to ensure a thorough response." He further emphasized, "Natural disasters such as floods and typhoons can occur at any time. Prepare for heavy rain with proactive and meticulous measures, and respond even more thoroughly than you think is necessary."

He also stated, "Every disaster is preceded by warning signs," and urged, "It is crucial to recognize and respond quickly when even small signs of danger are detected."

Mayor Jin also reviewed the disaster alert messaging system and said, "In addition to disaster alerts sent by the central government and Seoul City, please promptly inform residents of any local incidents such as fires, flooding, or road closures that may pose a risk, in order to help prevent damage."

He added words of encouragement to the staff, saying, "The fact that there has been no major damage so far is thanks to your hard work. As the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters has raised the flood and typhoon crisis alert to the 'serious' level, please continue to do your best in your respective positions until the end."

Gangseo-gu maintains a 24-hour emergency response system, and in the event of damage caused by heavy rain, residents can receive assistance through the Gangseo-gu Water Management Division (02-2600-6952~6955).
